September 2011

ROTHERHAM DIVERSITY FESTIVAL FUND RAISER

WorldAid volunteers went along to support the ‘One Town One Community Diversity Festival’, the festival was a huge success and attracted people from all backgrounds, and it was fantastic to experience the unity. Our volunteers continued with there sincere efforts by putting on a fun stall offering raffles, henna patterns, toys, books, games, jewellery and managed to raise £1587. 22 p, for the East Africa Appeal.

ANNUAL CHARITY CHAND RAAT / HENNA EVENING

WorldAid volunteers organised our Annual Charity Henna Evening, for women and children. Children participated on the evening by creative henna painting and enjoying variety of kids activities. Stalls ranged from designer indian hand-made shoes, designer clothing, jewellery, toys and books, nail art, raffles and a variety of refreshments. Total raised was £2,519.63p, for the East Africa Appeal.

Councillor's Charity Fund Raiser

Northampton Councillor Iftikhar Choudary organised a charity family afternoon, and managed to raise £4000.85p, which he donated to WorldAid's Flood Appeal. Councillor Choudary stated that the reason he opted for the WorldAid charity, was because of the fact that as small volunteer relief Team they worked directly and transparently with the victims at a grassroots level.

March 2011

Talbot Specialist School

Children, parents and staff at Talbot Specialist School in sheffield, raised funds for the Pakistan Flood victims, they kindly raised £208.62p.

 

 

Febuary 2011

Young Sabar Hussain

Rotherham enthusiastic youngster 12 year old Sabar Hussain , who is a pupil at Winterhill school, raised £1321.50p funds from the local community, for the Pakistan Flood victims.

 

 

December 2010

SOUTH YORKSHIRE FIRE SERVICE FASHION SHOW

South Yorkshire Fire service staff Sidra Nazir and colleagues, organised a Fashion Show at handsworth sheffield, to help raise money for the flood victims. In total they managed to £1,337.20p and the evening was a huge success.

OAKWOOD SCHOOL

Teachers at Oakwood school Richard Townsend and Nazish Choudry organised student fun activities to raise funds for the floods, in total they raised £1,030.31p.

Woodstock

Rotherham GP practice Wooodstock Bower at kimberworth, co-ordinated by Dr Bryans and Elaine managed to raised £223.50p for the Pakistan Flood Appeal.

PAKISTAN FLOOD APPEAL

WorldAid Volunteers have managed to raise £78,171.03p so far for there “Pakistan Flood Appeal” with donations still coming in. The team of 6 headed by Miss Masarat Din,  Dr R. Khan, Dr Ammad Hussain, Mr Yasin Shah, Mr Javed Malik & Mr Mohammed Yakub, departed for there mission to Pakistan last week, to help the victims directly at grassroots level.

ASDA FUND RAISING

The Local Asda supermarket managed to raise £1007.00 for the Pakistan Flood victims, by carrying out bucket collections and charity bag-packing.

HENNA GIRLS GROUP

Local Rotherham group "Henna Girls Group" worked hard by carrying out a door to door fund raiser, in total they managed to raise £690.38p, which was donated for the Pakistan Flood victims.

WORLDAID CHARITY BAG-PACK

WorldAid volunteers and young school children helped raise funds by organising a Charity Bag-Pack at the local Asda supermarket. Total funds raised were £457.00, which was raised for the Pakistan Flood victims.

Swinton Community school pupils organised a non-uniform day and managed to raise £409.14p, for WorldAid’s “”Pakistan Flood Appeal”.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust participated in a Charity Bag-Pack, at there local Asda supermarket, and managed to raise £100.00, for the Pakistan Flood victims.

Iqbal Yousaf and Donna Fowler organised a fun-packed Ferham Extravaganza at ferham school, to raise funds for WorldAid’s Pakistan Flood Appeal. In total the afternoon raised £1617.17p.

ACTIVE SNOOKER - CHARITY SNOOKER TOURNAMENT 2010 :

Mr Gulfraz Ali of Active Snooker, organised a “Charity Snooker Tournament” which was a great event at the Active Snooker club in Rotherham. All proceeds raised were donated to WorldAid's " Pakistan Flood Appeal", total raised £1430.00.

Charity Run

Local taxi driver Mr Zulfigar Ali of Ferham, managed to run up  Deadmans Hill, which is one of the most steepest hill's in Sheffield. The charity fund raising idea initially came about as joke, as Zulfigar claims to be lazier than Garfield, he’s a smoker and lives happily on junk food, but only too later prove that if you have the will-power and intention you can truly achieve anything. In total he raised a great £1120.00 which was raised for Rotherham based charity WorldAid Foundation for the Ramadan Childrens Appeal. Masarat from WorldAid said this was truly a fantastic generous effort made by Zulfigar, and it proves anything is possible if you really want to achieve it. Annual Chand Raat

WorldAid volunteers organised our Annual Chand Raat (Charity Henna Evening), for women and young children. Children took part in the henna painting, which is always popular.. Stalls ranged from designer pakistani hand-made shoes, clothing, jewellery, toys, nail art, beauty treatments and variety of refreshments. Total raised was £1770.78p, which will be added to the Ramadan Childrens Appeal.

Ramadan Childrens Appeal

Community members and volunteers organised an Childrens Appeal during the holy month of Ramadan, to try and raise as much money for the next relief Mission to help children in need internationally, during this two week appeal a total of £10, 075. 45p was raised.

Eastwood Fun Festival

Local council organised, the Eastwood Fun Festival along with several community partners. It was a local community event, open to all sectors and community members. WorldAid volunteers also participated in the festival, by holding a charity stall, which involved henna painting, name the huge bear competition and children’s activities. Total amount raised at this event was £370.70p.

July 2009

RUFC Open Day – Don Valley

WorldAid were invited along, to be a part of the Rotherham United Open day, which was held at the Sheffield Don Valley Stadium. RUFC supporters/fans were able to meet the players in person, it was a great family event. Our volunteers managed to raise £272.50p, by selling refreshments, face painting, henna and nail art, kids activities.

Ferham Festival

The festival was organised by the Rotherham United Community Sports Trust. As well as several other partners, WorldAid was one of the partners involved in the planning meetings and the organisation of this festival. The festival’s aim was to promote sports, physical activity and joint community participation. WorldAid volunteers arranged henna painting, nail art, face painting, hair braiding, childrens activities, as well as light refreshments, total raised was £780.00.

Birminham Day Out

Community day out organised by WorldAid volunteers. Excellent day out which promoted integration, social skill building. People from all differing backgrounds went along to experience, the Birmingham culture.

Charity Pamper Afternoon

Volunteer team, organised a charity “beauty pamper afternoon” for women, also available were food and refreshments. In total the afternoon raised
£675.00.

Ferham Festival

The festival was organised by the Rotherham Community Sports Trust, WorldAid was asked to participate as one of the partners by the Trust, along with other partners. The festival’s aim was to promote sports, physical activity and diverse community participation. WorldAid volunteers arranged a stall, and were supported by Wendy Leak of the Rotherham Central Children’s Centre. In total £549.34p, was raised, which was donated to The Rotherham Hospice.

Birmingham - Community Cohesion Day out, we organised day out for females from diverse ethnic backgrounds, that promoted community cohesion and integration. Encouraging active community social involvement. Overall successful great day.

Hope Not Hate Campaign

The Hope Not Hate Bus, visited Rotherham on Day 2 of its national tour. WorldAid volunteers, strongly supported the campaign by attending with a group of diverse children from the surrounding community, at the Rotherham Millmoor site where the bus was available for the reinforcement of the message of HOPE NOT HATE.

Arranged a fun packed Henna evening locally, for mothers and children, consisting of : painting henna patterns/games for children/ face painting/ raffles/ clothes auction and food refreshments, social gathering, in total raised £298.00.

Hula Hoop Challenge

Little Ashleigh Clapham, kindly initiated the sponsored “HULA HOOP CHALLENGE”, to raise money for “WorldAid Foundation” to help less fortunate young children in the third world ! The challenge was to spin the hula-hoop around the waist for as many minutes as possible, without it touching the ground ! On the 17th June, 10-year-old Ashleigh managed to spin the Hula Hoop for a whopping 1 hour and 32 minutes and her class fellow Philip Bradshaw managed 1 hour and 17 minutes. In total, they raised £161.20. It was absolutely amazing that someone as young as Ashleigh, initiated something as unique as this Hula Hoop Challenge, and a incredibly considerate gesture to help children who have next to nothing to look forward to in daily life.

Charity meal organised in aid of the Kashmir earthquake by Steve Rogers of  “The Open Minds Theatre Company” at the Orient Express restaurant, raised £1510,00

Organised a  local Henna for mothers and children and raised £483.00, further for Kashmir earthquake.

Organised charity meal at Vijays in Sheffield, excellent social evening and raffle, raised total £373.00.

November 2004

Developed and organised a fun packed Henna evening for mothers and children, consisting of : painting henna patterns/games for children/ face painting/ raffles/ clothes auction and food refreshments, total raised £941.00.
